Background

Vicki has over 12 years working experience in the health service sector. In her current practice as Clinical Psychologist, Vicki draws on Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural (DBT), Cognitive Analytic, and Motivational Enhancement (MET) therapies assisting clients in understanding the patterns and functions of their behaviours and distress. Vicki also works practically in assisting clients with the skills and support necessary to make change and choose more adaptive responses and ways of experiencing themselves, others, and the world. Additionally, Vicki incorporates Interpersonal and Family Systems therapies in working with couples, children, and families. She is also passionate about the use of Positive Psychology modalities in assisting exploration of strengths, potential, and the development of a personally meaningful life.

 

Areas of specialisation

Vicki specialises in working with adolescents and adults with eating disorder and body image issues including anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Vicki has clinical experience working in community outpatient eating disorder services, as well as specialised residential and day programme settings. She applies MET, CBT, and Family Based therapies, as appropriate to the age and needs of the client.

Vicki also specialises in working with individuals, couples, and families through family transitions including divorce and remarriage. She has undertaken Doctoral thesis research and published in the area.  Vicki believes in the potential for stepfamilies to provide adaptive, supportive, and nurturing environments and offers support alongside research and clinically based interventions.
