Areas of Specialisation
Model of Practice
Drawing on Family Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy and Cognitive Analytic models, Julian believes that people and their problems are best understood by taking into account the context in which the problem is occurring. Common contexts are school, family and work. A central assumption within this approach is that all behaviour, even the most seemingly undesirable, can be understood and that once understood, people are freed to find alternative, more adaptive ways of functioning. There is no place for blame within this approach, only understanding.
Testimonials 1
" I think I am fortunate that I had the chance to go to therapy as the transformation process has been fascinating. A whole new world of opportunities and options in life has opened up, and I feel a level of personal empowerment that I have not felt before. I normally enter your office feeling apprehensive but leave feeling calm, and this was the case today too".
Testimonial 2
"I am finding it hard to believe that there is someone in the universe that actually understands who I am, how I think, and understand my reactions to different, difficult circumstances ... to have someone UNDERSTAND or maybe not understand, but to at least ACKNOWLEDGE how I feel without judging, ... just accepting. You don't know how good that feels".
Testimonial 3
"Nothing that I could write would be a sufficient thank you for the support and professional care you have given me in the worst year of my life. Over and over I have come in very upset, and you have quietly helped me find some strength to move forward into the next week".
